Ticwatch 2, a sleek, interactive smartwatch, has stirred the landscape since its launch on the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter on July 26, 2016. A combination of classic design and innovative interactions makes it very competitive against Apple Watch and other Android Wear, but only sold for a fraction of the price. It was developed by a Google-invested Chinese startup, Mobvoi, which made the best-selling Android smartwatch in China.
The design
Ticwatch 2 comes in a natural round face with four models, including sporty silicon in black and white, elegant high-quality leather, and stainless steel.
The Ticwatch 2 also provide countless faces that you can quickly switch at any time and a magnetic wireless charging dock.
How does Ticwatch 2 work?
Ticwatch 2 is running on its own operation system, Ticwear, which features a clean and smooth user interface and a range of its own built-in apps. It is compatible with both iPhone and Android devices, although iPhone users are not able to access third-party watch faces and apps.
Equipped with a built-in GPS, a heart-rate monitor, 4GB of storage, a microphone, and a speaker, Ticwatch 2 has many unique features making it stand out in the smartwatch competition:
Voice search
Built on the company’s technology advantage in voice search and recognition, Ticwatch 2 allows a variety of interactions using natural language: checking the weather, exploring restaurants nearby, setting reminders, making calls, and even set up an Uber pick-up.
Tickle
Tickle is a unique patented control on the invisible side strip allowing users to scroll, select, and zoom without interfering with the display or leaving fingerprints.
Touch
Users can swipe the watch faces in each of the four directions to bring up notifications, apps, quick access, or voice command. A long press will enable quick watch face switches.
Gesture Control
Adding safety and convenience to driving, biking, or jogging, you can pick up or hang up phone call by flipping your wrist twice. A double side knock will change songs in the sports mode.
Sports & Fitness
Ticwatch 2 can track your activity, location, and heart rate with the built-in GPS and sensors. It can also play your favorite songs for you during workouts.
Price and Timeline
Ticwatch 2 made a big hit on Kickstarter—it reached the campaign goal of $50,000 within 10 minutes, and received half a million pledge within 60 hours. While the early bird rates have sold out, you can get it for a special rate starting from $159, which is 20% off the intended retail price, and less than half of the price of Apple watch. The company will begin shipping in late September 2016. To pre-order or to learn more, click the button below:
