It is very often that kids play on their own in a supervision of nanny or grandparents. It is perfect for kids to spend time discovering new things, playing with toys and listening to their favorite rhymes. However, times have changed and so are the hobbies of kids. It is far more thrilling to watch iPad and YouTube than to spend the time exploring and learning. Before the thrill of the internet takes away our kids’ complete interest let us start spending our Sunday afternoons in doing easy crafts with our children. These are some simple yet creative tasks which would not just be enjoyed by them but we bet you too will have fun.
1. Bead a necklace
Who does not love jewelry and when your baby has made it there is no reason that you would not flaunt it. Apart from this, aligning beads in a string is also a good exercise for your child’s eye and hand coordination. Moving on to making these easy crafts we would need a thick thread or string. Take a pack of green and golden beads. We suggest keeping both the beads in different sizes. We have taken green beads of large size and golden beads in small size. You can also make a pattern of two golden beads and one green bead. Whatever patterns you choose, ensure you maintain symmetry. Lastly, attach a hook and a loop on the loose ends and your beaded necklace is ready.
2. Paint a glass
Take a regular drinking glass and some glass paints. Glass paints look complicated but are extremely simple to use and the best part is that there are not many ways to go wrong with it. So order a pack of glass paints and cherish its usage. There is a black liner that comes in every pack of glass paints. Using the liner draw a random design on the glass. You can draw open triangles on the rim of the glass or make a smiley on the center. Now give the glass paints to your kid and let them fill colors in every triangle. If you are good with drawing, you can also make art patterns all over the glass and let your child color it with vibrant hues. Once through with painting let them dry. Glass paints take a little longer to dry so have patience. These glasses look amazingly beautiful. You can use them as a show piece, a vase for small plants or put some lights inside the glasses and use them to brighten your balcony or garden area.
3. Make your own gift box
We all need gift bags and boxes at home. When you have a gift box adorned by your child, you sure would love to gift it to someone close. To start with we would need some colored gift boxes with a lid. Cube gift boxes look the best so you can choose cube over rectangle. You can give one box to your child and keep the other one for yourself so that you can do the easy craft on one and the child can copy you. Now take a bright color card sheet contrasting to the color of gift Cut the card sheet into small shapes like triangle, circle, square, rectangle or any shape you like. Stick these shapes all over the box using the glue stick. Adding some glitter would make our gift box more attractive. Let it dry and your personalized gift box is ready.
4. Make a picture calendar
This is one of the easy crafts which you can enjoy in your child’s room and act as a useful piece of decor. For this, you need 12 pictures of your family, card sheets in multiple colors, colorful ribbons, calendar loop, punching machine and transparent plastic Cut card sheets into neat rectangles; you can keep the dimensions 12 by 8 inches or increase and decrease the size in the same ratio. Cover the sides of the rectangles with ribbons of the same color as that of the card sheet. Next, paste the picture on one side of the card sheet. Outline the image with a colorful marker. Make sure that the picture covers only one third of the card sheet and make a table to cover the rest two thirds. Fill the dates and days in the table and write the month on top of the page. Secure the page with a transparent plastic sheet of the same size of the card sheet to protect the picture and artwork. Once all the pages are ready, stack them together and punch holes on the top of the sheet. Run a ribbon through the holes and tie a neat knot.
